This annual event is a major fund-raising project. It takes place on a Saturday in October between the hours of 7.45 am and 9.15 am at the International of Brighton. The Community Breakfast, initially called "Prayer Breakfast", eventuated 10 years ago. Over the ensuing years, it has evolved into a major publicity awareness of Kiwanis and increased in supporting local, national and international youth projects. Each year proceeds from the Breakfast go to a different organisation/cause from the previous year, each fulfilling the Kiwanis Mission "Serving the Children of the World". Recent Guest Speakers include Rev Tim Costello, ex-MP Tim Fisher, Food Guru Stephanie Alexander, Police Commissioner Christine Nixon and HeartKids President Alison Byrne. These last three years, local identity Maryanne Van Dorslar was the MC. Local politicians, Bayside City councilors, representatives from Rotary, Lions and various Kiwanis clubs, Spiritual Leaders and Welfare organisations personnel as well as guests from diverse backgrounds, all join the Breakfast Committee, Club Members and friends in 90 minutes of fun, fund raising and inspirational revival. A delicious three-course hot breakfast, classy surrounds, entertaining music, quality raffle, silent auction and door prizes add to the electric atmosphere while boosting the fund-raising cache for the chosen charity, and expanding Kiwanians social interactions.
